LJEC Rebates

In addition to the federal tax credits you may qualify for, LJEC offers rebates to members installing an electric water heater, air source heat pump or ground source heat pump (see qualifications below). Financing programs are available through LJEC and the State of Kansas through Efficiency Kansas.

 

ELECTRIC WATER HEATERS:
Installation of Electric Water Heater: $100
Installation of Electric Water Heater with Lifetime Warranty: $150

Water Heater Qualifications:

  • Must be 40 gallon capacity or more
  • 40 gallon to 59 gallon must have an energy factor (EF) of at least .93
  • 60 gallon or larger must have an energy factor (EF) of at least .91

The electric water heating equipment must be permanently installed in the certified territory of LJEC. An existing electric water heater must be out of warranty to qualify for a rebate if it is replaced. By accepting a rebate, member agrees to allow LJEC to install a load control device if contacted to do so.

HEAT PUMPS:
Rebates for installation of an air source heat pump:

  • 14.5 SEER - $100 per ton
  • 15.5 SEER - $150 per ton
  • 16.5 SEER or above - $200 per ton

Rebate for installation of a ground source heat pump - $125 per 1/2 ton of capacity.

Heat Pump Qualifications: 

  • Heat pump (air source or ground source) must have a 2-ton minimum capacity.
  • Air source heat pumps must have a minimum SEER of 14.5 and a minimum HSPF of 8.2
  • Ground source heat pumps must have a minimum COP of 3.3 and a minimum SEER of 14.1 (closed loop)

The heat pump must be permanently installed in the certified territory of LJEC. By accepting a rebate, member agrees to allow LJEC to install a load control device if contacted to do so.

Heat Pump Financing Available
The safety, cleanliness, reliability and low operating cost of heat pumps makes them a very wise choice for LJEC members. Financing is available to qualified members installing a total electric heat pump system. The maximum loan is 80% of the total installed cost at 5% interest for five years.
